Who is Thebe?
Thebe is a healthcare organization with 25 care locations and 120 district nursing teams. In total, Thebe cares for 10,000 people.
The problem at Thebe is staff shortages
Says Thebe spokesman Mr. Van der Weide: "There is a staff shortage and we are not going to solve that. And we want our highly trained staff to be deployed as much as possible in specialist care." For years Thebe has averaged more than two hundred vacancies and at elderly care facility De Wever there are now more than a hundred.
What does the use of Drip Glasses mean for Thebe?
Thebe: 'Every day, thousands of people in the Tilburg and Breda regions receive eye drops, for example after cataract surgery or because of an eye disease. For elderly people who need eye drops, sometimes a caregiver visits four times a day. And that treatment sometimes takes weeks to years.'
'Eye drops can also be administered by family, acquaintances or by the person themselves using the Drops Glasses. These are plastic glasses with holes in the lenses. In these, the dropper bottle containing the eye drops can be placed so that it is well above the eye. If you lean back and squeeze the bottle a little, you can drip yourself.'
The use of the Drip Glasses provides Thebe with 120 hours per day (or 15 full-time employees).
Thebe: "The organizations have calculated that the new way of working in our region provides 120 hours of additional specialist care in the neighborhood every day. That's 15 employees who can provide other care full-time. This includes, for example, tube feeding, wound, catheter and palliative care.
